Don't miss class. If you absolutely must miss class, professional courtesy dictates that you give at least one-day's notice to me and any group members you may be inconveniencing, as well as find out from a classmate what you missed and how to make up that material.

If you have more than five combined lates and absences, you fail the class.
(even if you do the Extra Credit)

What I have to teach you is important and difficult, and I guarantee that attending class will make learning the material easier. Therefore, I expect you to attend class regularly, and you will be allowed NO absences. And don't be late, either. Each absence will lower your grade by 1/3; each tardy by 1/6. So, if you are getting a "B+" and you miss a day, you are now getting a "B" instead. If you are getting a "B" and you are late two days, you are now getting a "B-" and so on...

You may make up for being absent / tardy with extra credit. You may only do three of these; read the rules on the Extra Credit page.

If You Must Miss Class...
I strongly encourage you not to miss class because as much as you may think you'll want to skip class, you will be missing out on a lot of interesting information, so it will be much easier for both of us to simply attend class. However, talking to me in class or notifying me by e-mail at least a day in advance will at the very least keep me from releasing my dog after you (a Schnauzer—very ferocious at seventeen pounds), so be sure to let me know if you must be absent.

If you do not attend class and you have not notified me before class to let me know that you will be unable to attend, you will forfeit any points from quizzes or daily homework given that day. If you let me know ahead of time that you will be absent, I can e-mail you the quiz/homework, which you can turn in the next class period.

Late Assignments
If you want credit for being in class, you must participate and get your work done. Do not skip class if you do not have your homework done. Talk to me before class, and we may be able to come to an arrangement.
