English 314    Technical Communication

Due: Wednesday, May 26

Write an annotated bibliography consisting of five articles from your field of study.

Articles
Choose five articles from your major that either: (1) offer a comprehensive overview of research done within your field of study or (2) focus on a specific area of interest to you. If you choose to offer an overview of research in your major, be sure to include articles that would examine various different areas within your field. If you choose to provide a complete examination of a specific area of interest to you, select a topic that you find particularly interesting or may be focusing on for your own individual research or program of study and include articles that fully examine your interest.

Annotations
In no more than 150 words each, summarize your articles. Consider the purpose of such a document: others within your field would use this document to quickly understand the importance of research or knowledge within your field. Be sure to completely explain each entire article, including all major concepts and research findings from your article, so your audience / potential audience would find your bibliography useful in their research and / or understanding of your field or topic.

Including a brief introduction to your articles may prove useful to your audience, so they may understand the purpose of your annotated bibliography. Be sure to keep this introduction brief as well.

Formatting
As discussed in class and in the course handbook, bibliography entries should follow the format from your given field of study. Following each bibliography entry will be a brief summary of the article. Other formatting, such as spacing, headings, fonts, color, etc., should be determined individually, but considered to make the information in your document more accessible. Poorly-formatted documents with inaccessible information will earn lower grades. Here is a formatting example.
